FAQ

Marble is a metamorphic rock formed by the alteration of limestone by heat and pressure (thermal metamorphism). Depending on the point of extraction, some marbles can look very similar to limestones. Generally speaking, a marble tends to be a dense, closed tile due to the process of metamorphism. However, it is also common practice for resin to be applied to occasional voids and open veins.

  • Tumbled:A gentle ageing process, softening edges and stone markings. Stones with a tumbled finish yield a more subtle, pastel-like appearance.
  • Acid Tumbled:Acid finish is created when the stone surface is treated with lime water to produce the luxurious “old time” look.
  • A flamed finish is produced when stone surface is exposed to high intense flame , Causing it to burst and become rough. This finish is used for exterior applications where slip resistance is extremely important. A flamed finish cannot be applied to all stones nearly granite and some hard limestone
  • HONED – Smooth appearance with straight-cut edges.
  • Polished:A high gloss finish, creating a smooth and reflective appearance, with straight-cut edges.
  • Bush hammered finish is created by using a specialized stone working hammer with a head resembles a meat tenderizing hammer because the head of the hammer is usually small about (1-2 square inches). It results in a highly textured finish best used for External applications such as paving of walkways. Bush hammering will “grey out “ or fade the color of the stone to an even greater extent than honed . The feel is rougher than leathering and more uniform.

A bush hammered can be applied to any stone.

  •  Provides a flat, smooth low sheen. Common for high traffic areas.

  • Sandblasted :This rough surface is the results of a pressurized flow of sand that provides a textured finish, commonly referred to as etched.
  • Cheised:Facial chiseling: This surface is produced manually by using chisel and hammer and is used mainly in wall claddings and facades
